DARTS: Burnham’s Anderson loses in the semi-finals of the world championships

GARY Anderson put up a stirring fight in the PDC World Darts Championships at Alexandra Palace in London tonight but just fell short.

The 51-year-old Burnham-on-Sea ace was beaten 6-4 by 2020 champion Peter Wright in the semi-finals.

After trailing 3-0 in sets, the Scottish-born Anderson fought back to 4-3 and 5-4 but was always playing catch-up after a shaky start.

Wright, also 51 and from Scotland, now faces 31-year-old Englishman Michael Smith who is yet to win a major PDC title.
