THE stage is all set for the first intake of students at Taunton’s Richard Huish College who will be involved with the Bristol Bears Academy that will begin in the autumn term, writes Richard Walsh.
With this in mind three development days have been arranged that will be taking place at the college, to which 35 youngsters have been invited, including a number from the Bridgwater area.
Chris Heal, the Head of Rugby at RHC, who has previously been involved as director of rugby at Bridgwater and Albion, said: “We have got a number of young rugby players travelling from Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare, Chard, Minehead, Yeovil and Cullompton – in fact from all over south and west Somerset.
“The sessions will be run by Bristol Bears coaches, in addition local players who have gone onto play at the highest level like Joe Snow and Will Vaughan.
“This is a huge development in the rugby world locally and provides youngsters with the opportunity to develop their skills to the highest possible level without moving away from home.”
