BRIDGWATER United face their toughest test of pre-season when National League Weymouth visit Fairfax Park for a friendly today (3pm).
Manager Dave Pearse has taken the opportunity to blood six Bridgwater & Taunton College Under 18s in United’s opening two pre-season fixtures.
The young Robins showed plenty of promise during a 5-1 defeat to Taffs Well, when they conceded three goals in the final three minutes, and then in a 1-1 draw at Southern League Bideford on Tuesday.
The Terras will of course be a stronger test for Pearse’s men, and the boss is expected to field a more familiar-looking side.
Weymouth, who are managed by former AFC Bournemouth midfielder Brian Stock, finished 18th in the National League last season.
It’s been a busy period of transfer activity for The Terras with signings that will provide energy and quality ahead of the season in the form Tyler Cordner, Ahkeem Rose, Ross Fitzsimmons and Brandon Goodship all in the last week.
Admission is open to both home and away supporters and spectators will be charged at pre-season rates: Adult, £5; Concession, £3;
Children (Under 16), free.
Turnstiles will be open from 1pm. Payment is accepted by card of cash, with dedicated turnstiles for each.
Both the cafe and the Robins Club Bar will be open before and during the match with the bar open after full-time.
The bar will continue to operate under table service with the cafe running a take-away service only.
Parking will be limited on the driveway into Fairfax Park and the club recommends using the McMillan Theatre car park and college overflow as you turn off Bath Road into College Way.
There will be no parking available on the main campus of Bridgwater & Taunton College.
