BRIDGWATER’S Laura Gallagher Cox is set to make her Olympic debut at the age of 32 after being selected to represent Great Britain in trampolining at the Tokyo Games this summer.
Laura, who came sixth at the 2019 World Championships, is a long-time member of the Quayside Trampoline and Gymnastics Club. She went to Haygrove School where here mother used to teach PE.
She will be one of two female British trampolinists in Tokyo, joining 30-year-old Bryony Page who became the first British woman to win an Olympic trampoline medal when she finished second in Rio in 2016.
Laura said on the Quayside club’s Facebook page “I am so happy to be selected. It has been a huge journey and I have so many incredible memories along the way.
“There are so many people that have been involved in this journey and supported me to this point, I cannot thank you all enough.
“I’d like to thank Sue for her unrelenting support and commitment. You have been there for me throughout and I will be forever grateful. Thank you to Helen, Di and Carl for your support from the beginning and to the whole club – I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of it.”
