THE sound of laughter rang out loud and clear at Enmore Park on Friday evening as the Women into Golf ‘Bubbles and Balls’ taster session got underway, writes Richard Walsh.
Seven ladies, all new to golf, were welcomed to the club and introduced to the great game by the club’s team of professionals.
After trying out the basic techniques they finished on a high – with a glass of bubbly and an outline of things to come.
All the ladies really appreciated the ‘meet and greet’ in the car park and the escort into the clubhouse meant they didn’t have to ‘run the gauntlet’ of golfers sitting outside.
All seven have now signed up for the six-week women only coaching sessions that started to co-incide with Women’s Golf Day.

Sam Hill (Isle of Purbeck) and Ian Roberts (Weston-super-Mare) were third but only following a countback that put them in front of Julie and Cecil Blumgart after both returned with 38 points.
The club Stableford on Thursday for both Ladies and Gents attracted 92 entries and was won by Derek Norman – a 30 handicapper – with 47 points.
