SEVERAL Co-operative food stores will close early across Somerset on Sunday to give staff the chance to watch the Euro 2020 final as football fever hits the nation.
They include Berrow Road, Berrow and Stockmoor Drive, Bridgwater.
The stores in the county owned by the Southern Co-operative group – which does not manage all the supermarket’s stores in the region – will shut their doors at 7.45pm – 15 minutes before England take on Italy at Wembley.
The group confirmed on Facebook in the aftermath of England’s semi-final victory over Denmark that a raft of stores would be closing early to give the staff “some much needed time off to watch the final”.
The post contained a poster which has been distributed to all affected stores this week, thanking customers for their understanding and confirming the early closure.
It says: “It’s coming home, so we’re going home… at 7.45pm on Sunday.
“Our colleagues deserve some time off to watch the final so we’re closing all of our stores early. Thank you for your understanding.”
