GOLF: Riglers leave no room for error at Enmore Park

JOHN and Annette Rigler amassed an impressive 45 points to win the Ladies/Gents Invitation 4BBB competition at Enmore Park on Sunday. 

With the sun shining and the course in excellent condition scoring was high throughout the 21 pairs.
One point behind the winners with 44 were Nigel Wixon and Sue Hockley while Jackie Woodman and Jeffrey Saunders claimed third place with 42 following countback.
Julie Blumgart, the Ladies Captain who presented the trophy, said: ‘It’s great to see so many members taking part in mixed events again and enjoying the hospitality in the clubhouse. Well done to all those who took part, this was another special golfing occasion.”
Monthly Medal
The Monthly Medal for the Nigel Gange Trophy – introduced in 1992 in memory of  former green keeper who tragically died by the large oak tree alongside the sixth fairway – was held on Saturday and attracted 101 entries.
The winner was 16-handicapper Neil Mounter with a nett 66. Second place went to Julie Blumgart (18) who scored 68 and edged out Mark Strutt (11) on countback.
Ladies Open
Enmore Park hosted the Ladies Autumn Open 3 Ball Event which attracted 81 competitors from 20 different clubs across the region – including some from Newquay.
The winners were a trio from Stockwood Vale, who beat home team Julie Blumgart, Julie Ingram and Carolyne Warren into second.
The event was organised by Alison Greenslade while Sheila Bowden’s raffle raised £230 for the Lady Captain’s charity, SARSAS.
Tartan Putter
The John Hawthorne Seniors Tartan Putter attracted 78 players and was won by John Newell (26) with 42 points. Dave Keates (14) was second with 40 while Michael Taylor (17) claimed third with 39.
