GOLF: Redman collects Medal at Enmore Park

THERE has been plenty of golf played at Enmore Park recently including the Club Medal which went to Nigel Redman, writes Richard Walsh.

Redman, who plays off a handicap of 18, finished with 68, two ahead of Will Merchant (19) on 70. Geoff Garbett (13) was third on 73 while Johnathon Richardson claimed fourth with 74.

The Ladies President’s Putter competition was won by Alison Greenslade (23) with 75 on countback from Carolyne Warren (24). Melanie Millar (21) was third with 76 and Eileen Chave (28) fourth with 77.

On Sunday over 40 members entered the Leonard Cup a mixed competition played in a Foursomes format, which saw some great scores despite waterproofs and umbrellas being required.

Julie and Jonathon Stafford ended in third place with 32 points, second place on countback went to Chris and Kevin Lewis, also with 32 points, while the worthy winners were Jackie Woodman and Adrian Brain with an impressive 35 points.

A very successful Women into Golf Programme reached its conclusion when everyone who attended the ‘Golf in a Day’ programme and the ‘Bubbles and Balls’ taster and coaching sessions joined in the fun.

Club pro Barry Forster put through their paces before they took part in a closely-fought pairs putting competition.

The women now can progress to Phase 2, in line with the Women’s Golf Charter which includes 1-1 coaching, a round of nine holes with a buddy and Enmore’s (shortened) Golf Access course to help them work towards their handicap.

A new ‘Golf in a Day’ and coaching’ programme will be offered in August and September. Anybody interested, should contact Barry Forster at:
