GOLF: Large field for low-scoring Pro-Am at Enmore Park

ENMORE Park hosted their bi-annual Pro-Am when 29 professionals from across the region entered and were joined by three amateurs to form a team.

The 116-strong field enjoyed the glorious sunshine and were full of praise for the outstanding course conditions put in front of them.

Despite some tricky pin positions some exceptional scores were registered early on, with the second group out recording a score of 90 points which remained top of the clubhouse leaderboard until the very last group came in with a score of 92 points.

Professional John Bickerton from Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club topped the Pro leaderboard  with a fine score of 67 as he returned to the clubhouse, only to be joined at the top by Toby Hunt (St Mellons GC) and Bradley Scott (Oake Manor GC) later in the day.

This year’s event, sponsored by Tolchards Drinks and Marsh Kia Taunton, was made even more successful by the army of volunteers from Enmore Park’s membership who showed the true spirit of a members club by rallying together to ensure the day went off without a hitch.

The winning team consisted of professional Mark Plummer (Cirencester Golf Club) who along with Dave Hawker, Greg Lowe and Colin Murphy scored 92.

Second place went to Nicholas Brennan (Farrington Park), Rob Paige, Alan Fussell and Steve Blackwell with 90, two ahead of third placed Ashley Mansell (Clevedon Golf Club), Nigel Newport-Black, Alex Newport-Black and Tom Dyer with 88.

The Professional’s event ended in a  three way tie between John Bickerton (Minehead and West Somerset GC) Toby Hunt (St Mellion GC) and Bradley Scott (Oake Manor GC.)
