GOLF: Enmore Park Seniors finally come good on home turf

THE Senior section at Enmore Park made the most of  good weather and enjoyed playing three matches with contrasting results.

Last Monday seven pairs travelled to Budleigh Salterton to play their compatriots from East Devon GC, where the home side won all the matches.

The following day at Cricket St Thomas, skipper Peter Scott and his partner Kevin Lewis were the only winners for Enmore, triumphing by 2 &1 while Keith Norcutt and Jeff Saunders halved their encounter.

Honour restored

On Thursday, honour was restored with the visit to Enmore of Tiverton Vets. Enmore’s winners were Peter Scott with Steve James (2 up), Dave Pascoe and Steve Lukins by 5 &4 and Jess Lawrence and Vince Coombes (1 up).

Keith Norcutt and Jeff Saunders achieved their second halved match of the week and Iain Stewart Chris Bishop also halved their match.


Nine members of the Ladies’ Committee played for the Monks Salver, a trophy that was donated to the club by Barbara Monks.

On a beautiful day, with the course in excellent condition, the Stableford competition was won by Captain-elect Jackie Woodman with a score of 42 points.


The joint winners of Saturday’s Pro Shop 4BBB Stableford that attracted 64 entrants were Sean Jones, who plays off a handicap of ten, and Andrew Merrick (2), both with 47 points,

Kevin Lewis (11) and Rob Loder (4) were joint third with 45 while joint fifth was claimed on countback by Martin Innalls (2) and Paul Windsor (12) with 44.
