GOLF: Blumgart lifts Brown Trophy after finishing four shots clear

JULIE Blumgart won The Brown Trophy at Enmore Park with a nett score of 72 off a handicap of 16.
Joan Dovey (17) was second on countback ahead of Hilary Cockcroft (29) after both returned with 76, while Tracey Clapp (17) was fourth with 78.
The Ladies 9 Hole Qualifier attracted 11 entrants and was won by Paula Travis (15) with 21 points ahead of Anita Leng  (22) with 17.
Third place had to be decided on countback with Christine Pashley (20) pipping Anne-Marie Twort (29) after both carded 16.
The Men’s King Cup on Saturday was competed for by 90 members and was won by Scott Mather (10) with 68.  Derek Gibbs (31) was second with 69 while Duncan Peaster (10) came third on countback ahead of Ben Kingston (10) after both scored 70.
The Seniors enjoyed very mixed fortunes last week. On Monday they were well beaten 5-1, Enmore managing two halved matches ffrom David Pascoe and Mike Cavill and Tim Smith and John Newell.
The next day Oake Manor GC visited and Enmore ran out 4-2 winners.
Enmore went 3-0 up through Rob Fear and Keith Norcutt, Peter Scott and Mike Sullivan plus Dave Keates and Dave Taylor.
Oake then took the next two before Kevin Lewis and Steve James won the final game to seal the victory.
