Tributes and messages of support flood in following death of Bridgwater cricketer Josh Vickery

BRIDGWATER Cricket Club have tweeted a heartfelt tribute to club member Josh Vickery following his sudden death.

The tweet reads: “It is with huge regret that the club can confirm the sudden passing of our player, committee member and u11 coach/manager Josh Vickery.

“An excellent batsmen and outstanding fielder, Josh played WEPL cricket since the league’s inception and was incredibly popular amongst club members.

“A fantastic son, husband, father and the ultimate friend and team-mate, Josh will be massively missed by all at BCC.

“We thank our wider cricket family for all the kind words and messages of support, which have been nothing short of remarkable.

“Our attention is now firmly focussed on supporting Josh’s family and our club members through this hugely difficult time.”

The tweet was one of many posted by members of the cricket community.

Among the condolences was one from Jason Kerr, head coach at Somerset County Cricket Club, who wrote: “Sending so much love to my (Bridgwater CC) family.”

Taunton Town Football Club goalkeeper, Lloyd Irish wrote: “Very sad, thoughts with all at (Bridgwater CC).”

And former Bath cricketer, Lloyd Davies, wrote: “Thoughts with all associated with (Bridgwater CC) and the family tonight.”
