He joins a growing number of celebrities to support the county.

John Turner, CEO of Visit Somerset said: “We are thrilled with this news and really humbled that Tom has taken up the role to support our county’s aims of becoming the No1 location to visit and work and settle down in the UK.

“Tom will join the ranks of Duncan Bannatyne, Simon King OBE, Martin Roberts, Emily Eavis, Martin Thatcher, Ian Brodie and Lord Jeffrey Archer along with our patron Michael Eavis”.

Tom Abell said: “I consider it a huge privilege to be an ambassador for Visit Somerset.

“I am hugely passionate about this county, and I am fortunate enough to be able to represent it as a Somerset player. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

“To be in a position to be able to help promote this incredible area to a wider audience is something that I take huge pride in.

“I look forward to working with the team in a bid to help showcase what an amazing county Somerset is.”
