A BUSY section of road into Taunton is set to become a temporary 20mph zone for the next 18 months.
The new speed limit on a mile-long stretch of the A3259 at Monkton Heathfield Road and Yallands Hill will be introduced on August 5.
The order will be in place throughout the duration of roadworks on Toneway, which will see the nearby A38 close for up to a year.
A council spokesperson said the change has been introduced for safety reasons and to ensure that the road surface remains undamaged while roadworks are carried out.
The new limit will be in place from a point 20 metres north of the junction with Blundells Lane from the direction of Bridgwater to the start of the newly-completed Western Relief Road which has just opened.
