Person trapped in overturned car at Dunball is flown to hospital

ONE person was taken to hospital by air ambulance after the car in which they were travelling left the A38 at Dunball and ended upside down on a petrol station forecourt.

Firefighters from Taunton and Bridgwater were sent to release the casualty who was left trapped inside the vehicle at about 11pm.

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters liaised with paramedics to create a rescue plan.

“For safety, electrics were isolated to the jet wash area and two sets of hydraulic rescue equipment were used to extricate the casualty.

“Firefighters also made the vehicle safe, stemming a fuel leak using small tools while the Environment Agency supplied equipment.”
