Man dies in collision on A361 at Pilton

POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information after a man died in a collision on the A361 at Park Hill, Pilton, last night.

Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle collision just before 2am but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: “While he has yet to be formally identified his family are aware and being supported by specially-trained officers. Our thoughts are with them in their loss.

“A black Ford Fiesta was in collision with a utility pole. No one else was injured in the collision.”

The A361 was closed overnight for collision investigators to examine the scene and pending recovery of the vehicle.

Emergency services on the ground carried out a search to make sure no one else was involved, supported by the National Police Air Service helicopter.

The spokesperson added: “Anyone who travelled along the A361 at about 2am, who saw the Fiesta before the collision, or who may have dashcam footage which could help the investigation is asked to call 101 and give the reference 5221289527.”
