Initial work begins on Northgate development

PREPARATORY work is about to start on the Northgate Cinema and Leisure development in central Bridgwater ahead of  the start of the main building work in April.

Sedgemoor’s Clean Surroundings team will begin to remove vegetation on the Mount Street car park part of the site before the nesting season begins.

The work will be done in stages to fit in with the team’s other commitments

At a meeting of the the full council on February 22, members will hear and debate the results of the recent consultation on proposals for the Brewery Field site.

A council spokesperson said: “Sedgemoor’s on-going commitment to the Northgate development is part of the council’s strategy both for helping deliver the post-Covid recovery of the town centre and wider district, as well as setting the cornerstone for long-term success and sustainability.”
