PERMISSION has been given for a ‘glamping’ site at Bradley Cross on the edge of Cheddar.
The parish council objected to the plans, saying the tents would have a “negative visual impact” on the night skies in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the noise from the campsite could be intrusive to neighbours and walkers.
However, Sedgemoor District Council has give the plan the thumbs up. The planning officer said: “The principle of the proposal is acceptable and complies with local and national planning policy that seeks to encourage economic prosperity and rural enterprise.”
The site, at a property called Owley, will feature five bell-tents and the siting of a mobile toilet/shower block, together with laying of hard-standing and creation of a willow screen.
