BRIDGWATER Royal British Legion held a Christmas raffle to support local service and ex-service families who may be struggling to make ends meet after the festivities finish.
The raffle was sponsored by Tim Payton Butchers of Parkway, and Morrison’s Stores in Broadway.
First prize of a Christmas food hamper was won by a resident of Nether Stowey, while a second prize of a cheese and wine hamper, donated by an RBL Member, was won by a family living near the Levels.
A spokesperson for the Bridgwater Royal British Legion said: “We would like to thank people locally for their generosity in helping to raise just over £1,000 for the military charity.”
Chartered surveyor Lyndon Brett drew the raffle at the RBL’s new offices in Queen Street, Bridgwater.
The new office will be open just as soon as Coronavirus restrictions and safety allow.
