eat:Taunton festival cancelled after weather warning

SOMERSET’S biggest festive market has been cancelled due to Storm Arwen that is set to batter the UK from today.

The eat:Taunton festival was planned for tomorrow (Saturday) with more than 100 pitches for food, drink, and high-quality gifts.

However, organisers have been forced to cancel the outdoor event due to the high winds and freezing weather set to arrive tomorrow.

The aim of the festival was to “celebrate the best of the region and will showcase some fantastic food and drink alongside crafters, makers and talented performers,” according to Head of Sparkle, Sarah Milner Simonds.

Locals were told to expect “farmers’ market favourites like cheese, ales and pies alongside artisan chocolates, gin and charcuterie”, along with music, festive characters, and a “very jolly Father Christmas”.
