Driver flown to hospital after Axbridge crash

A CAR driver was taken to hospital by air ambulance after crashing in Axbridge in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews from Cheddar, Winscombe and Burnham-on-Sea were sent to the site of the accident in West Street at about 2am.

They found the driver trapped in their car after crashing into a steel fence and worked for more than two hours to get them free.

An air ambulance from the South Western Ambulance Service Trust then took the casualty to hospital.
