Heavy police presence in Bridgwater after ‘unexplained’ death of man

A LARGE police cordon is in place as officers investigate the sudden death of a man in Bridgwater tonight.

Up to eight police cars and several officers are said to be guarding an area around the Job Centre, just off The Clink.

West Quay Close is currently shut as well as Northgate car park.

Witnesses say they saw up to six ambulances and officers searching the site with torches.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: “At approximately 6.10pm this evening we were called to the West Quay area of Bridgwater following the sudden death of a male.

“Our enquiries are at a very early stage and at this time we’re treating the death as unexplained.

“Anyone with information that they feel may be able to assist our investigation is asked to call police on 101 and give the call-handler reference number 5221049146.”
