THE man who died in a crash on the A38 at Beambridge near Wellington on Sunday, March 28 has been named as 35-year-old Elliot Sparks.
The car enthusiast, from West Buckland, died instantly when his Toyota Chaser, a Japanese imported car, crashed on a road which has long been regarded as dangerous. Another vehicle is also believed to have been involved.
The road was closed for more than 20 hours after the accident.
The stretch of road is notorious for accidents, and this is not the first fatal collision there.
Last year a motorcyclist died in a collision with a car, prompting the Beambridge Inn pub to launch a petition calling for safety measures.
More than 1,200 people signed the petition, which had warned: “Something has to be done before another fatality occurs.”
