A RECORD number of students and their parents and carers viewed The King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge at the annual sixth form Open Evening.
The school was buzzing with enthusiasm and activity as dozens of current students met up with prospective students, and were able to show off the departments and introduce teachers and staff.
In the last two years the numbers studying at the Sixth Form has grown by over 100%.
Head of Sixth Form Jonathan Gaskell said: “It was wonderful to see so many students, their parents and carers. Something really special is happening at our Sixth Form.
“There has been constant success from students over the last few years with a 100% pass rate, and with 80% going to Russell Group Universities.
“This year, three students are heading off to study at Cambridge and Oxford universities.”
In the three years since becoming part of The Priory Learning Trust the school and Sixth Form have thrived, attracting students from Weston-super-Mare, Bridgwater and even internationally.
Acting Principal Dan Milford, pictured speaking, said: “We have a very high achieving and caring Sixth Form and we are delighted to see so many students coming to visit.”
