Charities to benefit after week of fund-raising at King Alfred academy

STUDENTS at The King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge raised £2,000 for charity in just five days.

The money is being shared between NHS Charities Together and the MPS Society https://www.mpssociety.org.uk/ which supports and advocates for rare diseases mucopolysaccharidosis and mucolipidosis.

A week of fundraising events included a Rag Week Walk through Burnham town centre where shoppers gave students in fancy dress a total of £800.

Events were also held every day in the school at breaks and lunchtimes, and included ‘Soak the Teacher’ and a bushtucker trial.

A spokesperson for the TKASA Student Union said: “We are so proud of everyone involved in raising for these fantastic charities.”
