International Mens Day 2021

Sedgemoor celebrates International Men’s Day

UNDER Construction and Positive People have again joined forces for a free event to celebrate International Men’s Day at Bridgwater Town Hall on Friday, November 19, between 10am and 2.30pm.

A spokesperson said: “Suicide and Domestic Violence towards men are key topics of the day, and while this is a sombre topic, the aim will be to show what support is available to men across Sedgemoor and beyond.

“It will also focus on the fact that suicide is preventable in a positive, friendly, non-confrontational approach.

“This is a social get together with multiple organisations available to showcase the support they provide, e.g. In Charley’s Memory, Seed Of Hope, Quantock Landscape Partnership and Mind. There will be a free lunch and refreshments and the chance to take park in a drumming workshop.

“In partnership with The Engine Room, Under Construction has created three short films of local people who have had mental health challenges and found mechanisms of support and these stories will be shared.

“Any interested in joining us should email Laura.fowler@sedgemoor.gov.uk or phone 07876 131139. Alternatively contact Maxi.gambier@seetecpluss.co.uk or phone 07901 653207.”
