Wooden notice board unveiled web

Axe Valley Men’s Shed add a notice board to Axbridge Square

THE public-spirited gentlemen of the Axe Valley Men’s Shed have constructed a wooden notice board for Axbridge Square, writes Harry Mottram.

Under the guidance of carpenter Terry Wite, the intricately-carved notice board is built out of recycled timber and will stand approximately where the former telephone box was, carrying information about the town’s heritage trails and other information of use for residents and visitors.

Mayor Kate Browne unveiled the notice board yesterday (Saturday) during the Farmers’ Market before a crowd of well-wishers and supporters and members of the heritage trail group and men’s shed.

The Axe Valley Men’s Shed is based in Cheddar and attracts men of a certain age to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practise skills and enjoy making and mending.

Chairman Andy Laken said the board has been a joint effort by members of the shed and they were delighted to help the new heritage trail in Axbridge with its contribution.
