Rotary help out charity in Cheddar allotments

MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Mendip and volunteers from ‘The Space Charity’ have been hard at work at the Community Wellbeing Garden in the Cheddar allotments.

They have made raised beds in preparation for planting later in the year and also dug a trench to allow fencing around the project.

The Space – an organisation which supports four to 18-year-olds suffering mental health issues – has been chosen by the rotary club as their charity for the year.

A spokesperson for the club said: “The garden will provide opportunities for children, young people, and adults in our community to mix socially, make friends and connect with others to improve their mental well-being.

“This is part of a practical solution to help those families and individuals in Cheddar who, for a variety of reasons, are struggling to cope in the society in which we live.”
