SEDGEMOOR council has spelt out the procedure for business grants following the introduction of a national lockdown on Wednesday.
The council says: “In this latest lockdown, the majority of businesses and venues required to close are those that were required to close during the November national lockdown.
“Businesses that are on our business rates register and that applied for grants then do not need to make a new application for further grant payments under the new circumstances.
“They will be contacted by the council with an email outlining the payments structure for the Tier 4/National Lockdown. Since the council already holds the information it needs on these businesses it will contact them in due course.
“Those businesses that applied previously to our discretionary schemes (because they did not have business rates reference numbers or did not fit the original criteria for support) are also likely to hear from us and may need to confirm that the information we have is still correct.
“Any businesses that have not applied before will need to fill out an application form when it becomes available.
“Because there have been so many changes made to the district’s Tier status in a short space of time, there are complex rules and calculations that the council will need to understand and interpret before making any payments to businesses so we would ask that you bear with us.”
