Bridgwater hotel among tourism award winners

THE Old Vicarage Hotel and Restaurant in Bridgwater had double reason to celebrate at the ‘virtual’ Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards on Thursday night.

The hotel took bronze in the New Tourism Business Award category and gold in the dog-friendly business of the year section.

The Grade II listed property in St Mary Street was bought in January 2019 by husband and wife team Peter Starling and Candida Leaver who have worked hard to renovate the building.

There was also double recognition for Blackmore Farm in Cannington who were awarded silver in the B&B and Guest House of the Year category and silver again in the Tourism Innovation Awards.

The Babbling Brook Inn at Shurton was commended in the Dining Experience of the Year Category while Tractors and Cream in Othery claimed silver in the Glamping Business of the Year section.

And if you fancy a nice afternoon tea there’s no better place than The Almshouse Tea Shop in Axbridge who were acclaimed Café & Tearoom of the Year.
