Work by talented young artists now on display in Bridgwater

THREE talented youngsters from the Sedgemoor area have each won £100 in The Arts Society Sedgemoor (TASS)’s competition for local young artists.

Town Mayor Leigh Redman, presented the prizes to the winners on at Bridgwater Arts Centre in Castle Street on Saturday.

First in the Under-14 category was Harrison Manley, aged 12, with a model crocodile; the 15-18 section was won by 16-year-old Meg Dallimore’s inspiring black and white hands; while Aleah Dodson (19) took the 19-21 award with a musical creation.

Among those commended for their entries were Ross van Aswegen and Rosie Bhurton who are also pictured.

Jo Boyd, Young Arts Chairman, said: “The challenge, to create a work of art using odds and ends, produced some clever and original pieces.

“The Arts Society aims to encourage an interest in the arts at any age, and we were delighted to be able to invite local young people to take part in our competition.”
