THE Heart of The Tribe gallery in Glastonbury is showcasing ‘Wonder Tales’ – an ‘otherworldly’ exhibition of fantasy showcasing the works of Rowena J Draper and Penelope O’Gara, from August 26 to September 20.
A spokesperson for the gallery said: “You can expect plenty of magic, fantasy and fairy tale in this joint exhibition which will be a hit for all ages.
“A self-taught artist, Rowena Draper describes herself as a former nomad inspired by the School of Life.
“Drawn from her early memories, Rowena’s work captures the freedom, wonder and curiosity of childhood. Depicting magical creatures and fairy-tale archetypes, Rowena explores her own relationship with these characters and narrates their story.
“Penelope O’Gara has a history in theatre and costume design, leading her to where she is today – a highly skilled doll maker.
“Dolls as a medium spoke to Penelope not only because of her career experience, but more deeply because of the symbolic resonance of their historical use as totems. Her work explores ritual objects, archetypes and symbolism.
“As part of the ‘Wonder Tales’ exhibition, Penelope will be hosting a series of puppet shows titled ‘Allegia Mystra’. A family friendly show, all the puppets have been hand made by Penelope.
The show will be running over the August Bank Holiday weekend and entry is free.
Puppet show dates: Saturday 28, 12pm, 1pm, 3pm and 4pm. Sunday 29: 2pm and 3pm.
